Financial Incentive Program

The following services are provided for members of the Heritage Council who also have business or wish to have businesses in the downtown area.

KY Housing Loans – these are low interest loans for those individuals that qualify. They help with the rehabilitation of apartments or housing in the downtown area. The paper work can be fierce but the rewards and the benefits are well worth it.

Historic Tax Credits – there are two types of tax credits. If your property is on the Historic Register or in the historic district and you are wanting to purchase or remodel you may be eligible for a 20% tax credit off of your federal taxes. (Preservation Kentucky is currently working to establish the same program for the state level). There is also a 10% tax credit if your building is not on the register but was built before 1930.

Porter Paint Program - Porter paint will give you 50% off of your paint products if you are a member of the Heritage Council and take in a validation from the Heritage Council.

Facade Grants and Low Interest Loan Pools are currently being developed by the Economic Restructuring committee. We hope to be able to offer these services in the near future.

The Heritage Council provides to all of its members the following services:

Advocacy – the Heritage Council acts as a catalyst to create and manage new public improvement projects enhancing the downtown community. We are the advocates for the downtown merchant, business owner and resident.
